In April 2023, the graduation ceremonies of the new Doctors, Postgraduates and Diploma holders of the Faculty of Engineering were held at the Grand Auditorium of the Conference Centre. A total of 350 new diploma holders received their degree in the packed large auditorium.
The ceremony of awarding the 8th Scholarship in memory of Panos Mylonas was a remarkable event in this context. The ceremony took place before the swearing in of the graduates on Tuesday 4 April. The scholarship is awarded by the Institute of Road Safety "Panos Mylonas" and is implemented by decision of the Senate of the University of Patras and this year it was given to the first student of the 4th year of the Department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering, Mrs. Ioanna Manousaki. The award ceremony was held in the presence of the President of the I.O.A.S. "Panos Mylonas" Mrs. Vasiliki Mylonas. The Rector of the University of Patras, Prof. Christos Bouras, who presented the scholarship together with the President of the Institute, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Nikolaos Avouris, the Deputy Chairman of the Department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering, Prof Georgios Lampeas and the Deputy Chairman of the Department of Architecture, Prof Panos Dragonas, addressed the event.
At the same event, the moment of awarding the diploma to the new graduate of the Department of Architecture, Mrs. Christina Farmaki, was particularly touching, when her young son shouted a "bravo mama" that filled the auditorium. The event took publicity in the media.
